same here… VMWare 12 won’t run anymore after installing this update… uninstalled update to fix one machine… can’t run VMWare 15 due to older CPU issue….
I am also having the same error since Windows 10 applied latest update yesterday.
Software Version: VMware Workstation Pro 12

Hardware:
CPU: Intel Core i7-930
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5 (Rev 1.0)

Altough as you may have guessed my computer is “antique” compared to modern hardware. It can’t run newer Workstation releases starting from Workstation Pro 14. I bought it in 2010.. It’s almost 10 years old.
However I am really surprised that it also affected many people with modern (1~5 years old) hardware.
It can be solved by uninstalling the updates causing the problem and blocking them from reinstalling using “Show or hide troubleshooter tool”. You can also disable entry for vmware workstation pro in compatibility administrator. For this to work you need Windows ADK(Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT)). ([https://docs.microsoft.com/it-it/windows-hardware/get-started/adk-install](https://docs.microsoft.com/it-it/windows-hardware/get-started/adk-install))
I guess they really really want people to try HyperV.
This has been known since before 1903 dropped.
Upgrade Workstation, or remove the KB. This has to do with changes in Hyper-V in prepping for sandbox mode. It’s causing conflicts
look at some issues with credential guard you may need to disable

Option 1 – Registry change….
Option 2 – Compatibility Assistant – follow link to notes. only need to install the Compatibility Assistant (about 7Meg)
I did option 2 last week and no issues even after the latest couple of updates.
This started after cumulative window update.
