Change EVC Mode in Production

Hi,

We are trying to install an Aruba mobility master: [8.5.0.11](https://8.5.0.11) from an ova file. The installation crashes and after some searching I found this guy that solved the issue by changing the EVC mode in vShpere: [link](https://community.arubanetworks.com/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MID=29164)

Our is at: “Intel Merom generation”

Can you change the EVC mode in a production environment, or is that really not recommended ?What will happen when I change it to, let’s say Intel Skylake ?The hosts are HPE DL380 Gen9, CPU’s: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650 v3 @ 2.30GHz

vShpere version is 6.7

Edit: vShpere version added

  1. Those CPUs are Haswell generation (4th Gen), so you won’t be able to use Skylake EVC (6th Gen).

If EVC is enabled and your CPUs can handle a higher EVC mode then you can upgrade with no issues, but the changes won’t take effect on the running VMs until power cycled. You can use PowerCLI to make each VM power cycle on the next reboot.
