Change vCenter IP Address

Hi All,

What is the best way to change the IP address for a vCenter Server appliance? I tried to change it via the appliance management (ip:5480), but could not log in with either domain credentials / administrator@vsphere.local. I changed the IP back to it’s original IP, and it worked as is it did before.

Any idea’s? Could it be a certificate issue? Or should i reinstall the entire appliance?

Thanks for helping!

  1. You need to figure what your PNID is. Did you deploy originally using FQDN or IP? If it’s IP, and you haven’t upgraded to 6.7U3 then you can’t change it, it’s not supported.

I’m guessing this is the case here, and that as SSO can’t start you cannot login as administrator@vsphere.local.

  2. How did you change it back if you were unable to login?

Did it actually deny the credentials/refuse the login or did the connection time out?

    Something doesn’t make sense here.
