Create a VM out of a physical machine

I have a linux machine isntalled on a notebook and I’d like to crate a VM to run on my VMware workstation 12. I’d like to know which kind of problem I might come across and what I should aware of (apart from different interface names) before proceding?..and What program should I use? Thanks

  1. There are many ways that allow moving a physical machine to a VM. You can use a converter tool to make a P2V convertion. [https://www.vmwareblog.org/v2v-converters-overview/](https://www.vmwareblog.org/v2v-converters-overview/)
You can also do a Linux machine backup and restore to a VM, e.g. Veeam Agent features bare-metal backups that can be recovered to a physical or virtual host. [https://www.veeam.com/linux-backup-free.html](https://www.veeam.com/linux-backup-free.html)
