Hades Canyon Skull LED Fun



For a couple of years I had ESXi running on this Hades Canyon NUC. I felt the skull LED was wasted because I couldn’t access or control it. I decided over a year ago to blow away ESXi in favor of libvirt/kvm, so that I’d have access to the LEDs from the base OS. Today I finally did it, and I’m so glad I did.

I also think VMs run pretty snappy under libvirt/kvm.

There are other advantages to this platform. I’ll expand on that as I continue the buildout. The plan is a completely standalone portable CTF server. Plug it in and it’s live wherever it sits.
