Horizon OSOT instant clones sysprep or cloneprep

When using the OSOT tool for optimizing the golden image, is it necessary to not only run analyze and optimize, but to need to run the generalize and finalize button which relies on sysprep?

We are using instant clones which requires cloneprep and I didn’t think we need to use sysprep anymore. Or is it only needed for the OSOT portion and cloneprep still used during desktop pool instant clones creation?

I was going off this guide below which does say to do generalize and finalize but I recently had a FasTrack class which did mention no longer needing to use sysprep, so I’m confused now.
