How can I get an older version of VMware Workstation Player for Windows 7?

This is almost impossible to search for, because so many people are asking how to install Windows 7 on their Workstation Player, not the other way around.

I’m running Windows 7 on my desktop. VMware Workstation Player 16 is not compatible with Windows 7. And that’s the end, apparently. No “here’s an older version you will need to use if you still have Windows 7,” just “sucks to be you.”

Is it possible for me to get an older version somewhere? If not, suggestions for alternatives would also be appreciated (first thing I came across was Oracle’s Virtualbox that I was planning on trying next).

  1. As far as I can tell, the last version that will work on Win 7 is VMware Player 15. So, I take the url for Player 16, which ends with vmware_workstation_player/16_0 and change that trailing piece to 15_0.

It brings me to a page that, down in the lower corner says Player 15.5.7 and a link that says Go to Downloads. I click on the link and see a choice of downloading for Windows or Linux. Download works for Windows, sitting on an install for 15.5.7.370
I’m not positive, but Player 15 might still be receiving security updates from time to time.
