Imported VM with a valid Windows License

Recently for a school project we had to install Windows Server 2016 into a virtual machine. With our school we have access to License Keys for each Windows, so I grabbed mine from the school portal. Now some friends have imported my VM since I already preconfigured everything, the problem is that they now all have windows but under my windows license key! Could that cause a problem, should they change my license key with theirs? Sorry if the question sounds confusing, but i want to be sure that I won’t be charged with extra costs.

  1. Really, this all depends on whether the key is MAK or KMS. If it’s a MAK key, then there is only a certain number of installs granted to it. If it’s KMS, then the server will validate against the KMS server on the network and register its use.
