New to VMware world and Virtualization

Hi, guy, I’m new to the VMware world and virtualization. I get a new job in a company that uses VMware ESXi 6.5 and that solution looks great!!

I would like to know where I can learn more about VMware virtualization in general.

Also which drive is the best or recommend for different virtualization I’m talking about SATA, SSD, SASS

  1. I’d start with Hands on Labs that VMware makes available. Also, to get deep information, the Mastering vSphere 6.x book.

As far as drives, 9 times out of 10, esxi hosts will be connected to an external storage array. SAN or NAS. Without getting into raid, erasure coding, etc – performance for virtual machines are based on a random IO, since there are many machines running on the same disks.

Best disks for random IO from fastest to slowest:
    Nvme, SSD, SAS, NL-SAS, SATA

Joining a lot of disks together into raid groups can boost performance. So, 15 nl-sas drives will outperform 3 SAS drives.
