Trying to move to distributed switches

Is there a best practice in handling the standard vswitches that are present on hosts? When I initially joined our hosts to the vCenter cluster, I did so using the vmkernel ports on the standard vswitch. Now that the hosts are in the cluster the management vmkernel ports are still on the standard vswitch. Do I just migrate them over to the distributed switch and then delete the standard switches? There aren’t any guests using those standard switches.

  1. Personally I keep the vmkernel port on a standard switch. It’s nice to have full control of it if ever vCenter is down.

  2. sure. you can migrate, but know your networking and setup before. I’ve been in situations where a rollback did not work and I bricked the host
