VMware

UEM and Chrome

Hello all, long time lurker but first time poster here.

I’m trying to build a PoC using a Horizon floating pool and UEM to move user data around (basically Outlook, Skype and Chrome), but I’m having a hard time making Chrome play nice with UEM. Does anyone experienced similar issues?

Not sure if I’m missing something, right now my Import/Export for Chrome looks like this:

[IncludeRegistryTrees] HKCUSoftwareGoogleChrome
HKCUSoftwareGoogleChromePreferenceMACsDefault
HKCUSoftwareGoogleUpdateClientState{8A69D345-D564-463c-AFF1-A69D9E530F96}

[IncludeFiles] <LocalAppData>GoogleChromeUser DataFirst Run
<LocalAppData>GoogleChromeUser DataLocal State
<AppData>GoogleChromeUser DataDefaultprofile.pb
<LocalAppData>GoogleChromeUser DataDefaultCookies
<LocalAppData>GoogleChromeUser DataDefaultSession Storage

[IncludeFolderTrees] <LocalAppData>GoogleChromeUser DataDefault
<LocalAppData>GoogleChromeUser DataProfile 1
<LocalAppData>GoogleChromeUser DataDefaultThumbnails
<LocalAppData>MicrosoftWindowsWebCache

[IncludeIndividualRegistryKeys] HKCUSoftwareGoogleChromeExtensions
HKCUSoftwareGoogleSoftware Removal ToolCleaner

[IncludeIndividualRegistryValues] HKCUSoftwareGoogleChromeBLBeaconfailed_count
HKCUSoftwareGoogleChromeBLBeaconstate
HKCUSoftwareGoogleChromeBLBeaconversion
HKCUSoftwareGoogleChromeBrowserExitCodes756-13197387165261538
HKCUSoftwareGoogleChromeStabilityMetricsuser_experience_metrics.stability.exited_cleanly

The DirectFlex setting is set to Export at Logoff with executables being only chrome.exe

I added the ini file found at [https://communities.vmware.com/thread/578914](https://communities.vmware.com/thread/578914) , tested with DirectFlex on and off, configuring the export moment for both logoff and application close but it simply does nothing for it (Outlook works just fine).

Basically I want to save the google cloud logged user and synced settings from it.

Thanks! 🙂

  1. Yea, getting Chrome to work in UEM was not fun. I got it working but the profile it builds is quite large mainly due to the way Chrome saves info.
