Upgraded yesterday to VMware Workstation Pro 15.5, all went ok, but today after restarting I get a segmentation fault when starting Vmware

SOLVED: VMware would start when started with admin privileges, problem disappears after updating RHEL system.

/usr/bin/vmware: line 105: 13490 Segmentation fault (core dumped) “$BINDIR”/vmware-modconfig –appname=”VMware Workstation” –icon=”vmware-workstation”

(Running RHEL 8 self-supported developer licence)

Any clue what the cause is ?

I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it.

> vmware-hostd
returns: Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Same result when executing vmware-modconfig, vmware-mount, etc

I still have the error after downgrading to v15.1.0… (kept configuration file intact)

  1. Have the same issue, and have an open request at VMware community. [https://communities.vmware.com/thread/619280](https://communities.vmware.com/thread/619280) trying to determine how to gather something more relevant from the logs, as the information in terminal is useless (nice SEGFAULT, no clue as to what they forked up). If I can figure out better logging, will definitely help me get a clue on why and how to fix.
