I think the reason this was such a big deal is because this was a chronic illness advocate getting onto someone with obvious intense health anxiety. Something that a lot of people with chronic illnesses have been through. Like wtf
It amazes me that some people of the internet will present certain things at fact when it’s clearly an opinion with my basis in fact.
Jake saying that the few lab results that Ethan shared meant that there was nothing wrong is absolutely ridiculous. First of all, Ethan may not be saying all of this results and secondly, if you are not a doctor that is active in that patients treatment you don’t know anything. Certain markers can mean different things based on sex, medications they are taking, symptoms among a vast range of other things that can cause certain results to mean certain things for different patients.
Additionally, how do many people cope with negative emotions? Humor. When are we going to stop policing how some deal with negative emotions?
Jake goes around saying he cares so much about mental health and chronic illness but how he has treated this is horrid. He is not a medical professional. What he has delt with through his own medical issues does not make him a professional in that field.

I legit don't get why Jake was mocking Ethan over stressing out about not knowing what was going on with his health and trying to find a diagnosis. That's what his "hit piece" felt like, he was mocking a guy going through something (either real or perceived). Especially since Jake is supposed to be all about chronic health and helping people with chronic health. Ethan may not have lupis or anything or he might, but since his mom has an auto immune thing and Ethan has Tourette's plus medical anxiety of course he's going to be stressed about the potential of having an uncurable illness. Someone who champions chronic conditions would know that anxiety and mental health encompasses the diagnosis process and what that looks like. Which is exactly what Ethan is going through.

I'm def a lot more leftist than probably your average fan (also trans, queer, etc) but I do enjoy listening to other view points, and honestly your ability to joke about things in a respectful way is nice. Just, actually being generally chill from what I've heard. some people do get a bit too tense about things, but if you actually just make a joke and don't be straight up hateful most people can see that.

As someone who has also had a moment of health anxiety I understand the panic one gets when trying to look for answers or when the answers seem to connect to what you think you might have. Jake took it way too far and it was very uncalled for to make a video saying Ethan was doing it for attention and donos.
