VMWare Education guidance

Hello All,

My boss is currently wanting me to get enrolled or take some type of class for VMWare.

We are currently on 6.5, but most likely will be upgrading here soon,

My question is there a good program out there that you recommend for an VMWare admin course?

any help is appreciated

  1. I like to start by looking at what classes are recommended based on vmware’s certifications respective to your experience and job responsibilities.

    Here’s a good example:
    https://www.vmware.com/education-services/certification/vcp-dcv-2019.html

From there, I’d recommend [VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V6.7]](https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/courses.cfm?ui=www_edu&a=one&id_subject=84058) if you’re just looking to get a broad education on vsphere. This is just an example.

  2. What is your experience with vCenter and ESXi? If it’s minimal, take Install, Configure, Manage. If you’re pretty well versed, but looking to expand your knowledge, take a look at Optimize and Scale. Both allow you to sit for the VCP certification.

  3. I’d be super curious about this too. I find the VMWare resources to all be very convoluted and confusing and circular and I always feel like I really get lost among them clicking in circles.
