VMware on AWS Outposts – questions

It’s very interesting that you have AWS providing hardware on-prem with AWS Outposts ( [https://cloud.vmware.com/vmc-aws-outposts/faq#general](https://cloud.vmware.com/vmc-aws-outposts/faq#general) ) and partnering with VMware.

Why does AWS need to partner with VMware for this? Why can’t AWS use a different hypervisor?

There’s something I don’t understand about why companies that use VMware on-prem are so incentivized to keep using VMware despite it being so expensive. Won’t AWS try to remove VMware from the equation?

They do, just use AWS Outposts without VMC and you’ll be using a different hypervisor under the hood.

Of course AWS don’t have to partner with VMware, but if there is customer demand and interest then why not?
