I bought mine about 4 years ago for $230 on eBay. Great helmet to have without breaking the bank. All I need now is a Don Post deluxe helmet to complete my collection.

Saying it was made from the very mold used to create the original is misleading. EFX has their own injection molding process for making ABS helmets. The studio molds would never hold up to the thousand pulls or so to make these helmets. "Master patterns created from the original molds made from a screen used helmet made by Rick Baker in 1977 that are in the Lucasfilm archives" So it is a copy of another copy. Essentially a mold was made of an original helmet. EFX pulled a copy from THAT mold, then created new masters from their copy. IE… not the original mold.

I have this helmet. It says "Do not wear for protection" meaning do not use it as safety helmet e.g for head protection. They don't mean not to wear it. You can make it a bit more glossy with WD40.
I’m assembling a Darth Vader ANH costume, and have got this helmet on the way! 😄 So excited!
Also, I think the ‘Do Not Wear for Protection’ caution means to not use it as a protective helmet, as it’s not designed for that use. 😊

Great unboxing and review as always! Does anyone know what (if any) differences there are in materials/build quality between this and the "Limited" and "Legend" versions of the Vader ANH helmet from EFX? Those are selling well north of $1k, and this seems like a way better deal.
