  1. the thing about maple is that at the core its fun, its got a lot of things in it that dont make it fun, but the core game play and mechanics are fun. its why maplestory 2 died so quick because its core gameplay was not fun, it had great customisation and things going for it but it wasnt fun.

  2. I think we share some similar sentiments about the game. For reference i played pre big bang with my brother, some friends, when i was in 6th/7th grade. They dont play anymore obviously, i still do. Its such a weird game to describe to people because i still feel lost in the modern MapleStory, even though i have nearly 10 years of reference in game time and should know alot. Whats interesting to me is that i when i played back in 6th grade i had time and no money, i used to walk to target to buy NX cards bc it was the only way to acquire them. Now i have limited time, and arguably more money which presents an interesting cross roads with modern maple, do you grind hours to get the stuff you want, or do you drop $10 and get it quickly. You said theres no way to buy gold directly but the meso Market on reg servers is essentially NX to meso conversion and its a fairly way to aquire mesos with micro transactions. That doesn't mean its a good idea, but if your options are grind 4hrs to get 3bil or pay $20 and instantly get 3bil its basically a matter of how you value your time vs how you value your money. The worst part about modern maple for me is theres no way id ever recommend a game like this to my new gamer friends, theres too much to learn, too many classes, worlds, servers, places to go, and things to learn. If the game released a classic version (but addressed some of the major problems of old school maple) came out i could maybe recommend the game to a friend, but the modem game is all but a solo venture in my opinion

  3. New to the channel, just got recommended this video.

I’m one of those close to Endgame players in this game and I’m so glad I found this! You did a great job showcasing the absurdity of this game.

I can get all my dailies done in about 15 minutes, and then once a week I’ll take an hour or two and knock out all the weeklies, but that is because I’ve built my account, I have every character over level 200 and my main character needs to party up to tackle the big bosses and progress. This game is extremely social still, it’s all just on discord instead of native game chat.

Hope you enjoy maple and some of your audience tries it out! Let me know if you need a boss carry on reboot or if anyone has any questions!

  4. I started Maplestory in 2005, before and after it got the cash shop added to NA ~ it was my first MMO and it basically killed my desire to have BiS in games and definitely shaped my view on what a pay-to-win cash shop is. Some of the terrible aspects have made me a lot more easy going as I went into other games, allowing me to enjoy them more freely ahahaha. Even today, gameplay-wise, it's still so fun. Having an mmo with platformer elements is really a great idea. Plus the art is evergreen compared to 3-d games. One thing it really excels at is emotes, I've yet to play an mmo that is able to make emotes as engaging, there's something about clearly readable expressions that are based on chat emojis that really make talking with other characters so much more natural.

  5. I played MapleStory on and off from 2005-2018, though I never really did any of the "endgame" stuff. Made a lifelong friend in that game, and despite all the issues the game has has I still love it. I definitely agree with what you're saying about how disjointed the game is these days; the exploration (almost metroidvania) and social aspects are what drew me to the game, and I miss them dearly. Maybe I'll go back someday…
