“Taskmaster”

The contestants must bring in something someone else will miss, reinvent the wheel, age or de-age themselves, save a sausage from a barbie, and make their monsters meaner, cuter, more prestigious, and sexier.

  1. First thought on the aging task was to have my great great granddaughter who is 100 come visit my grave and I died at 100. Year is about 2200. Makes 'dead me' over 200 and if that's not accepted because I'm not 'on screen' then I'm also 100 on screen. But second thought was toilet paper mummy myself with a tag on my hand that says circa 3000BC. After watching all of UK and now the first 6 episodes of AU this is one of a few tasks where I feel like I actually had a decent idea.

  2. I am relieved that the stuff around Julia's mouth in the intro clip of her licking milk out of a bottle is (supposedly) food and not the cat litter I thought it was.

Until now I had thought she was meant to be some sort of a demented cat. Although the reality isn't much more sane.

  3. This is the best Taskmaster outside the original except for one thing:
This TM's scoring is utterly arbitrary and is inconsistent from show to store.
    Diminishes the competition assessment greatly.

  4. This felt weird…
I understand that it'd hard to match the original UK taskmaster, but there were so many things that felt… wrong.
The laugh track felt weirdly edited and unnatural. Almost as if I were watching an 80's show.
The taskmaster felt like he was straight-up reading a prompter with nearly no emotion. And the emotions showed, felt forced as well.
But hey, tom cashman however was a HUGE improvement on the NZ version of Alex. As the NZ version of Alex pretty much felt condescending and very much like a buzzkill.
Like some kind of announcer who's reading and describing a children's story while attempting to be funny.
Tom gleeson did not NEARLY interract nearly enough with the contestents about what the heck is going on, or the interactions felt as if he was just a judge of sort. Same problem as the NZ version. Nearly no banter and back and forth.

Tom cashman did great. The rest needs serious improvement.
But holy crap, the laughing track was WAAAAAAY overused. I mean, why the hell is a laughing track used when announcing how long someone took on a task?! And when someone ACTUALLY makes a funny joke, there's almost nothing.
If someone did a drinking game on this episode, they'd be wasted in the first 3 minutes!

Contestants feel cool, but I can't enjoy them due to the way things are edited. They feel cool and fun. And unlike the NZ version, they are not held back and are allowed to go crazy. So that's good. But their momentum feels halted many times. But that might just be the laughing track trying to act is if there's non-stop punchlines going on.

  5. @10:30 from "how do you know how to do this?! who are you?!"

to " just bang it off the ramp. LET'S SEND IT!!!"

the remote control car task is honestly one of my favorite tasks on any series

  6. Danielle deserved to win this one just on the back of being the only one who really understood the prize task, but then her aging task also blew everyone else out of the water.

  7. Aaaand, now, the 2nd best "trolling another contestant" prize task entries ever courtesy of Danielle (1st being Laura Daniel stealing everyone's girlfriends, of course).

  8. The live task was cut off at 41:00. Was something about the "sexy monster" censored perhaps? They didn't even show who won.
Later: er, what? they already announced the series scores, but then come back to giving points on the live task and the final score for the episode?

  9. her boob fell out after the whistle was blown, thus her transformation from baby to 18 year old happened AFTER task was complete. 17 years needs to be added to her score.

  10. This is a great group of people, very rewarding to watch so far. They're all absolutely fantastic, but I love the craziness Julia brings to the table, and Nina – she's just soo endearing. Julia keeps herself fit, I noticed some nicely toned underarms when she wanted "UP".
