The thing is that item are jsut entities. Once you could even kill them with falling anvil, but I think they May have patched it. Since cactus does damge too, item just die and disapear

Thing that doesn't make sense is how diamonds is how it can't be destroyed by cattus except neterite
making a more detailed hitbox for each trapdoor, door, for iron bars, etc uses up valuable space that could be instead used for adding more content instead (not like they add more content anyways, but 🤷♂️)
i can assume that netherite has the same distruction code but a little bit modified, but they forgot to remove the cactus stuff.
You can also use the honey block arrow trick as a way to hit a target block or pressure plate to open your secret base
The Cactus is scaled to outerversal. it can erase the concept of any item in the game 💀 and Steve can survive it easily 💀

I mean that would mean different doors and trapdoors would how different hit boxes meaning some are better, and what’s the point of an iron one if the enemy can just shoot through the hole?

Item drops are Entities that has health level just like us players or other mobs, some mobs as you guys know has fore resistance right?

mojang keeps their code simple so the players with weakers pc can play minecraft too,just by modifying that cactus to destroy any object except netherite stuff will make the game more laggy,in fact minecraft should remove the item list for lava so the lava will destroy netherite stuff too but in exchange for even less lags,that is better to be reworked now because the more updates mojang makes the more lagy minecraft becomes.
Pretty sure Mojang intended to make cactus as a infinite trash can for players to throw their garbage away, I mean, who would build a base on a desert biome and increasing the chance of accidentally dropping a very valuable item on a cactus…

netherite is stronger than iron right so it doesn't burn up but….
no matter how strong the sword is but the spikes can scratch it and blunt it so it destroys it…
