Depending on your county it may take some time. I live in Wake county and it took a few months for the permit to come in.
I was denied my permit in NC because when they looked at my VA records it showed at one time when I was depressed and they asked me a question “ did I ever think I would harm myself” and I said yes. That was a dark time in my life after 15 surgeries in in an unbelievable amount of pain. I have had a pain stimulator implanted in me and life has been good. That didn’t matter though. I’m doing great and can walk without a cane or walker now. I’m glad I have my Fl. License as it’s good in NC. I talked to two sheriffs deputies and they said no problem you are good to carry. They did say try again in three years. They said my county (Gilford) is the worst to try to get a permit since the sheriff hates that civilians can get weapons. Plus it took longer than 45 days to find out.

I got mine in 5 days. Easy
I am a retired CO and have mine and intend to renew evert 5 years as needed. I carry a Glock 40 cal. Got use to that in prison and like the caliber.

I’ve had my NC concealed permit for at least 20 years. It’s so simple to get, it’s puzzling why more don’t have it. It’s a fun 2 day class, or a long one day course. The shooting qualification is pretty easy, just don’t bring your Dirty Harry .44 mag to shoot it, because you’ll scare the hell out of your classmates. Even a .22 will do. Bring a gun that will work, please, with new, clean ammo.

I have my lifetime permit as well as being able to carry because I am a CO at the local jail.
