On minute 28 you metion that you cant wake up the unraid. I had that problem maybe it will work i try wakeonlan did work then i learn that i can use etherwake it is not on a mac but maybe it will work. The only problem i found is if i unplug the pc from the wall it will not work until i start the pc and shutdown. So if you neever unplug or hopefully the power does not go out shuold be fine.

I run a similar vintage HP Z800 as a NAS, using freenas and now TrueNAS. They were disposing of them at work so got a couple free. 96gb ram and 2x 3ghz hex core zeons, i actually removed a CPU now to reduce power use they are greedy 😢. Think the machines were 10km new 😮
I’ve given up on usb boot discs now for OS they seem to fail to easily, using and SSD now had mirrored usb sticks before.
Fun building them up, but always forget what I did when I come back to work on it, Need a notebook like you
