Like any homelab, my server rack is in a constant state of flux… equipment being moved around, servers being added and removed, but what do I actually use my server rack for? What hardware can I not live without? How much does it cost to run my server rack for a year? All of this and more will be answered in this latest tour of my Homelab.

  1. unfortunately i also have cable internet about the same speeds as you. Hopefully they expand the fibre network.
You can get 25gb over fibre in Switzerland

  2. Cool stuff. As usual i am as casual a computer user as they come. By that i mean i do not even need the consumer i9s lol. Still like listening to people talk about tech lol

  3. I'm currently waiting on components to build out my cloud gaming server. I hope i have enough clout with what i got to pull it off. The only thing i haven't decided 100% on is what gpu. Any recommendations with your far more extensive experience.

  4. Awesome video! Thanks for all the content, your videos are what make me keep my eBay account active! I would love to see you do a deep dive on your network setup. Are you using UniFi access points? If so, did you have to trunk all the ports going to the AP’s to get all ypur ssid’s to work? And are you doing layer three routing in any of your switches?

  5. CC, so did you take my advice and replace the ram on those ES boards and they no longer have the rebooting problem, or do they still have a reboot problem but you put them in your rack anyway? Nothing goes in my rack that is hardware defective so I'm curious what the resolution was.

  6. I've been looking at getting in to 100gbe myself, have you only tried SMB or did you try NFS or iSCSI? My idea was to centralize my storage and use iscsi or maybe even go for a full AD (+fslogix? i dunno im not a sysadmin) set-up for Windows. The other reason is I'm getting in to self-hosting LLMs and I can totally see myself in 2-3 years with way too many GPUs needing to connect them somehow, so I could definitely still use that bandwidth. And getting a thick enterprise switch to play with is always fun. Theres a bunch of 48x sfp28 + 6x qsfp28 switches for not unreasonable prices second hand since everyone is switching to 200 and beyond, so possibly just looking for excuses lol

  7. At least you get 35 up with comcast. I get a whopping 600 down and 10 up. I literally get better upload on my cell phone…. I don't understand why ISPs insist on doing this. I would be happy to even have 30. I had 50/50 FIOS in a different area, and it was great. I don't see a lot of use cases above that for me. But 10 is just maddeningly pathetic.

  8. Thanks for the video and the update on your Home Lab. Quick question: Do you think that I can put the Erying 11980K Motherboard on a single U case instead of a 2U Case? I am not sure what low profile that is low noise and has the right height can be used on a 1U rack mount cage (i.e., IN-WIN IW-RF100-S315)?

  9. I love how I just watched a video about thousands of dollars worth of equipment and am left with one question: have you considered/have access too bonding on the cable modem? I ask because I have gigabit (50 up) and getting about 850mbps of it and while I know there’s overhead and all of that and im never going to get like a perfect speed test but I’m curious to see what would happen if I enabled aggregation my ISP gives me access too LACP and generic I just want to see my magic number go up 😂 even tho I don’t use nearly the gigabit I just need the upload lmao
