  1. Could have just bought a used Dell PowerEdge T6xx and PowerVault MD12xx disk shelf, or PowerEdge R9xx. Would have had a completed system in a couple of hours. Guess you learned a lot though. Fun series.

  2. don't use TeamViewer to copy data between PCs, it's criminally slow
    iX will kill CORE and that makes me absolutely mad, SCALE is not good enough
    for moving data between TrueNAS machines you can use ZFS send/receive, it's way faster than copying data trough SMB

  3. Pro trick. Plan everything in advance, make sure parts fit. Then yes, expect things to go wrong, so order as much as you can at the same time, so you can test and return during the 30 days / 14 days your shops have for return period. Don't order something then wait a few months and expect things to work 😀
