Set Up Your Own ARK Server from Official Server Saves

Can't u just save the data of the server and make it a single player world without paying?

My question would be… is this PC friendly? Cause I downloaded the server file on single player and PC crashes badly. Other solution is renting server from nitrado, but this seems good too. So, I wanna hear your thoughts about it. Thank you

Does this set it up to be able to play on all official maps, or only the one? Is there a way to set up for cluster like official has it? Gotta know soon and yes I subscribed to ya.

Snail has announced it would not do a wipe on the new game release and only little used servers would be affected. Thoughts ?.

What about us console players How do we save our stuff

Steve, followed your suggestion in this video an used PingPerfect to set up a server with loaded ARK official game save file, feedback as follows:
What went well:
1. Application process was easy, and easy to select an ARK server as the requirement
2. I went for the annual cost of £112
3. The server worked perfectly for an empty 'The Island' map, but I wanted this for my own game same on Fjordur so..
3. The steps to set up the server, download an official Fjordur game save file, download an FTP service and transfer the files to the server went well
4. Responses to tickets (see below) were quick, polite and proffessional
5. Refund was fast and they only deducted £4 which I thought very reasonable (again see below for reason)
What didn't go so well:
4. Once I had my Fjordur game same loaded onto my server, I couldn't connet to it, either through Steam or via the PingPerfect client panel even though my server said it was running. Tried a number of restarts etc. so raised a ticket
5. Ticket support was very helpful, although didnt fix first time, they quickly got to the problem
6. Turns out to run an ARK Offical game save file on a server, it was regularly using over 15GB of server RAM. The £112 I paid for my server gave me 7GB, so ticket support said I needed to upgrade my server RAM or my server would keep being automatically shut down due to over-utilisation of RAM
7. The reason for the additional RAM utilisation will be due all the strcutures and tamed dinos on the map (obviously it was a copy from an official map so would have had hundreds of bases, thousands of tames dinos out etc.)
8. There was no way of me removing the hundreds of bases, thousands of tames dinos to reduce the RAM usage, as I could not log onto the server!
7. Turns out the cost of upgrading RAM was insanely high, even for a small amount it was £100's! and to upgrade to 30GB (suspect this is what I needed for stablility) was £950, almost ten times the cost of the server.
8. So applied for a refund, and was refunded within 48hrs.

A potential solution to this problem may be to pay for the upgrade of the RAM for one year, and then once you are on the server use admin commands to remove all the bases and dinos you dont want to bring the RAM utilisation down, then in the second year downgrade the RAM, however I was not prepared to pay that ammount of money just for one map and one server and also felt in a small way cheated, as PingPerfect did not advise of this potential issue with Offical gave saves up front.

Hope this helps anyone trying this out – and good luck with ARK – I still love the game.. even after 12,000 game hours!

Why pay for a server if you just gonna play single player and mod the sht out of it since your going to anyways and it won't matter how much you lose because ull get it back in like a week or less with boosted settings.
