Oh, wow…. I want a singleplayer sci-fi adventure RPG game so badly! Just please don't make the same mistakes Starfield did. Mass Effect was one of the best games ever.
I'd bet that the "too corporate" was because of EA buyout…
Looked interesting until
1. Head of Live Service = General Manager. Any Live Service and “Greatest” type of Game these days just gives me an immediate micro+macro transaction filled games. Does anyone remember ME2’s attempt to monetise? I’m guessing guy behind that is the same guy.
2. Left BioWare because it’s too corporate but goes to a new studio owned by WOTC/Hasbro which is as corporate as it gets, on top of WOTC insane monetisation attempts in recent memory. MtG players will know what I mean. Then you have the agenda driven, DEI checkbox releases which means his writing is gonna be even more restrictive than while at Bioware
If Archetype has the independence of Larian then maybe, but a cursory check, their funding is from WOTC so unlike Larian being self funded, well the chances of creative freedom just went off a cliff.
I wonder if The Awakened are like The Awoken.
Or reminiscent of The Taken, The Unspoken or The Forsaken?
But cheesy names aside I’m excited to try this game and it looks potentially pretty cool to me. 🤞

Plenty of room at the table for more mass effect styled space rpgs. To me more the merrier. I hope all can thrive.

That being said i do think that there is genuinely tons of potential if you are the first human to go to some place, discover new lifeforms, civilisations and to boldly go where …. oups wrong series .)
Some games attempted this, i distinctly remember freelancer trying it and failing – if you are doing space game having discovery, spectacular spacial events and new races should be naturaly something you do in my opinion, space is fucking wild!

Rinnin’ around looking for ancient artifacts that are the key to the future. I don’t know why mighty ones died but their stiff can surly save us alright (in MM’s voice).
I don't know why, but, the fact they said there's no space combat is really bothering me for some reason
Aside from the Mass Effect feel, which may be due to the background music, those celestial beings remind me of the Guardians in the Borderlands series. This video was very well done.

Sci fi RPG fans (including ME fans ofc) will want this game to be like the BG3 of sci fi… and that's gonna be insanely hard. Pressure on the team is gonna be intense.

Come on players, haven't you learned better by now? Promise the world, tell the players what they want to hear… deliver a "game" that's been chopped up to make more profits, and guess what? Not only does it cost you $80, you get to beta test it!
Drew or not this game needs to prove itself . Just like the next ME … Big names big studios it doesn't matter look at Starfield…..
I think that I am going insane. Somebody shows info about this new game and they are like this looks cool, interesting story etc. You get it. But i look at that and I am seeing this obviously soulless corporate sanitized story and bad MMO tier visuals. So here we are there is 30 min video about this new game and comments also are like inject this into my veins etc. I am really feeling insane like me and people here we are watching on the same thing but we see two different things but nobody else seems to see what I see. Like FFS people you can't go more generic than this game. Look at the robots in trailers and there is one type of robot in star wars that looks very similar and I bet i could find some similar bots from other sci-fi franchises. Monsters looks like those i killed in last 4 sci-games. And sci fi magic powers they are copied from Starfield these squares that move and sh*t. It is like they employed guy from Bethesda and told him: that but different enough so they don't sue us.
