Not sure if I missed this but have you tried a foam based applicator for the tire dressing? This is what I use and it works well but struggles with getting in between the letters and embossed details on the tire face. Curious if the brush method is better. May give it a try tomorrow if I find a brush that I like when I hit up the local auto parts store.
