  1. What’s funny to me Josh is half a second slower on the bill drill with his handgun the harry is with the sub gun. Considering Josh started gun in holster, hands off gun, and harry starts gun in shoulder low ready, easily makes up the half second. What would be a really interesting test is how many hits can we get in three seconds starting from the typical carry position for the gun. So if the mo5 is carried in a bag, start with it in the bag.

  2. A PDW for personal defence use is not realistic, since you will never have it on you or within immediate reach when you need it. A PDW for military use is questionable, since it is not THAT much smaller than PCC but introduces more complexity into logistics.

  3. Among trained shooters, there's little difference in performance between a pistol and a PCC under the typical home defense and CCW use distances. Go to a practical shooting match, and you'll almost always find pistol shooters outperforming the people bringing in their PDWs/PCCs to the match. And this is DESPITE the fact PCCs are typically given easier rules due to safety concerns, and typically don't need to reload mid-stage because the rules allow them to have 50 round mags. Between a high-level PCC/PDW user, and high-level pistol shooter, the scores are extremely similar at the top.

Where one will notice a difference in performance between a pistol and PCC, is with novice shooters (so basically 99.9% of the population). For the average person who doesn't compete, doesn't train, doesn't study up on the subject, etc. A PCC/PDW is a great option. Cheaper practice ammo (compared to 5.56/308/x39) shares ammo with your pistols, typically smaller and more lightweight than a rifle, and they're less concussive/quieter than a rifle.

  4. The higher FPS concerns is why I got 147 grain ammo for my wifes Stribog she runs for self defense. Better penetration and when tested in a block penetrated and expanded equal to a Gold Dot 124 Grain +P round.

  5. Weirdly enough they do fit a role in my life. I work out on the rez and go out there a lot. I like to be armed if you been to the rez or live on it you know why, but I don't like to be seen armed but having something a little better then a pistol while hiking goes a long way. So I have a Stribog with a binary trigger on it. Or the other gun I'll take in a bag is my zpap92, which no PDW and is a bit bigger but still pretty short.

  6. I miss my MP5 sub gun so much. HK made the best PDW/sub-gun ever. Fun video. During the Rodney King riots, I wore an MP5K, with 15-round mag, under a button down shirt on the way to work in the HK shoulder rig for the PDW. Easily accessible and concealable.

  7. ❌ Personal Defense Weapons require an effective range of at least 200 yards. So that you can return fire against enemies armed with Rifles, the weapon is only compact enough to fit in a crew cabin. I have NO IDEA why any pistol caliber weapons are considered in that category at all. An MP5 was never a PDW. You need at least .30 carbine velocity for that. Im not even sure if 4.6mm has the range, even if it has the velocity.

  8. Nothing makes me laugh more than people who permanently wear cargo pants and tactical jackets griping about sub compact pistols. My mom is a teacher, she's not concealing an mp5 with her in the classroom. I'm an AEMT, I'm not going to shove one up my prison pocket at work either. My EDC needs to be convenient to carry and get the job done should I need it. I don't care about comfort when the moment requires. Elisjsha Dickens didn't need a PDW to extinguish a rifle wielding threat in a mall.

I agree with the Brass Facts video that PDWs make the most sense at the beginning of an apocalyptic scenario. Having said that, I argue that PDWs must feature the terminal ballistics of a rifle, if only at short distances. What's the point of a rifle sized package giving me pistol ballistics?

  9. I like a pcc or pdw for home Defense. Lower concusion for indoor use and lower recoil for rapid fire up close. But capable of 100 yard shots with ease for shots across the property

  10. You should have compared the same pistol being shot in-hand vs being put into a PDW chassis like the CAA MCK. That would have been more apples to apples, and made your point better. Great video regardless

  11. Is this your video to get Polenar Tacticals holster for the mp5? 😂 i agree PDW are easier to be good with but pistols are easier for daily carry and would be faster to draw. Also i have noticed PDWs seem pricey. If they were cheaper and no NFA laws (a PCC > than a PDW) i think more people would be eearing backpacks with these in them

  12. You guys bring up some great points that sub compacts are not the most fun to shoot and train with, and on that I do agree. That said personally I think there’s nothing wrong with a decent .22 pistol if the recoil of a sub is too much for someone with a lighter frame or smaller hands. I carry a sub compact as my around town running errands firearm and I usually have my PCC in my car with hollow point ammunition.
I ask myself in what situation, would I likely have to use my weapon? Honestly more often than not it’s likely in super close proximity where having something that can be quickly deployed is the right move. I did carry my Pcc in a satchel for a while but I got sick of the question “what’s in the bag?” Or “no backpacks”
