Do you love the look of granny squares, but you don’t love weaving in all those color change ends? I am a granny square lover and I have made my fair share of granny square…

It’s all about learning the secret sauce and everyone is different. You have to really be looking ahead. I use a 6.5 for the first two rounds then switch to a 5 mm for the rest
I think the yarn isn’t perfect but I still enjoy using it and making granny squares for fun. I try not to take it too serious.
if i would do this, this would have given me a headache! Its so nice that one of my favorite crochet experts can frog that much!
I think I won't be trying this, unless is to ise a variagated yarn. Maybe if I do loads of the granny squares I will get the knack but somehow I think I can just weave in the yarns.
was curious but not curious enough to buy this. it's a gimmick idea. unless someone has consistent tension it looks like one would have to intentionally make +/- mistake stitches into individual squares to avoid frogging. There's also no way dye on the strands are in exact places at exact lengths over all the skeins or cut from the same point either. A factory knot in the middle of the colorway would always ruin one square. They're still good colors.
A good precaution when testing this yarn would be to not cut the yarn after a square is done, as in starting a center still attached to the previous strand. That way you'll have a visible repeat example of exactly how far to start the next magic circle from the end of the last square, and you could place the earlier squares into a plastic food container so the previous squares on the uncut strand aren't weighing down your hands while working.
Ugh. So tired of granny squares! Can't we challenge ourselves to do something more? They're the 70's crochet trend that made people not like crochet.
I just now bought a couple of skeins to try. Hoping I have good luck 🍀! Thanks for the review and all the different ideas you can use this yarn for!
I tried it and I had to continually frog it . Very frustrating, I will use it for something else. I think the colors are nice❤️and it feels good🥰
I would not use this yarn. I hate to play yarn chicken. And this yarn is yarn chicken on every round…nope
I taught myself how to crochet. I love this yarn and the pattern for it is great! With correct tension and hook size it’s perfect each time ❤
I tried 2 different colorways and after HOURS of changing tension, hook sizes, chaining 1 or 2 between clusters, etc etc etc – I gave up!! I was finally able to crochet one sunflower granny following a tutorial. I could have finished 10 squares in the amount of time I wasted trying to figure this out! AND woven in my ends!!🥴
Poor Elise was going THROUGH it in this video 🤣😭 I felt the anguish through the screen 🤣
I tried it and didn't care for it. I had to frog every row. I will probably make a c2c blanket out of it.
Everyone's tension is different you'll actually be trying to imitate the creator's tension….no thanks!!!!! Weaving in the ends is fine with me….
Thank you for showing this in such a detailed way, both the frustration process of making the square but then elation when it works out, but I also so much appreciated being able to see skein by skein what the colour blends look like.
I'm from Australia so can't get direct access to the yarn as far as going to a physical store to pick it up and look at it in person, so by far you showed the most extensively how the the different colour ways are, so I really enjoyed getting to see them that way, thanks!
We do have an alternative way of getting yarn that looks like the same colour ways for many of the versions here but just not with the same labelling, but not all of the colour options are available and you just have to be able to find it by chance when searching through a large crate container, so not always guaranteed to get it but I always keep my eye out! 😉🤞🏻
I was wondering if you slip stitch till the color change not sure (if it is a little tight) if I get the yarn I’ll try and leave another comment 😊
Am sorry I just don’t like this yarn so I will just use it as a usual stripe yarn and not for granny squares xx

I have so much yarn that I prefer my old way and use my stash. 🧶
This reminds me of planned pooling yarn. Seems to work the same way.
Thanks so much for this video, Elise! I purchased 4 skeins of Black Cyber Leaf and finally sat down and played with it a couple days ago… JUST SHOOT ME. Loved your recommendation for Susan Kennedy’s Crochet Southwest Spirit book and snagged a copy so I can make her Wind River blanket. 🩵🧶🩵
I’ve seen so many people say they hate this yard. Thank you for showing that it can work even though it may be frustrating. Now it makes me want to try it. I’m wondering if you would’ve gone down half size in your hook if that would’ve made a difference. The wind River blanket was gorgeous. I would love to try that one., My name is Lynn my husband user name. Although I’ve tried to teach him how to crochet and I think he would do very well as he is an artist.
I know how frustrating using this yarn. I experimented with different hooks. I wasn't worried it wouldn't turn out but it was perfect. Then I made a bucket hat. It was awesome. I got so many compliments. The different colors made so many fun projects. I can't get enough of it..
Can we get an organization video on hooks, safety eyes, yarn, needles etc. I have so many eyes stitch markers ets that doesn't fit in the container they came in after I open it for the first time
What really creams my corn is that each square works differently. All the starting, stopping, frogging, re-doing etc. takes more time than weaving in ends would.
I’m totally blind and when I started your video I was super super jealous that I couldn’t see and do something this creative after seeing how frustrated you were you popped my envy bubble thank you lol😅🤍
Know I haven't try it yet ❤
All the time, frogging the rows out , it would have been easier to weave in the ends. I have not seen any video where they were successful.
Oh no, I don't have enough patience for all that frogging.
I love the idea of this yarn but I had to redo mine so many times. Sometimes I feel like I had consistent tension but was wondering if the yarn itself was consistent in its color changes.
I used 5 mm hook and the pattern for a backpack on yarnspiration website
I have to loosen up on the second color and I am tighter on the last round so I have a longer tail. I was able to make 15 squares with one ball
this reminds me of trying to get the plaid pattern out of the multicolor yarns from Red Heart …. so aggravating!
Like the others no one I've watched have had success with the granny square. It seems to be unnecessarily difficult
Thank you for this review. I already knew I wasn’t going to use it, but your video showed me what I thought would happen did. 💕
Would dividing each colour in four and marking them help so you know how much to use on each side? Imagine how much more crocheting you could do if you didn’t have to constantly frog.
