Elon appears to be telling us that the base V12 is stable, that Tesla has cut the major training cycle down to 2 weeks, and that they are able to train an average of 3 new features per cycle.
With enough compute and better FSD AI architecture, the best FSD training option may be end-to-end training for each vehicle type. Otherwise, Tesla could split FSD into 2 stages: 1) Vehicle specific cameras to 4D virtualization, 2) 4D virtualization to path navigation to vehicle specific control outputs. Both are vehicle specific. 1 only needs to be trained for major upgrades. 2 is the heart of FSD. 2 can be trained faster and more efficiently than end-to-end training. By using 4D virtualization input to path navigation output, 2 provides for a) Marked data compression compared to raw camera data input, b) A less complicated process for rendering synthetic training data, c) faster data transfer, and d) significant energy and storage savings.
Don’t hold your breath. Why do we still trust what Elon says about timelines?

These promises by Elon on FSD has been going on for 5 years that has pump up the Tesla stock. Elon has not delivered the expected results on FSD. Investors now realized that these are false promises which resulted in the sell-off on the stock

Edge Case does really cool FSD videos for sure, but let’s not let any one user’s “rating system” become something held up as definitive. I use 12.3 every day and I rate many things charted as “worse” better than 12.2.1. Just trying to keep some balance in perceptions here. Great episode guys.

Just like Nvidia, FSD may take the route of tackling business first, before the mass market consumers. If it reduces the cost for businesses, they would opt for it. Then comes the normalization to everyday consumers when they realize it is something real and safe. Nvidia fortunately has it much easier, as demand is pretty clear at this point, if you run a business without these GPU's you're outdated

If smart summon and banish are executed without a driver, then is Tesla on the hook for the insurance liability should something 'bad' happen while in these mode(s)?

Herbert, you run a great show. *BUT*, in listening to your show and the shows of others, YOU REALLY NEED to get a better mic. Typically, most people are clear as a bell…. and your voice comes across filled with distortion. Listen to yourself on youtube or X. Maybe the mic is fine and it's something else in your system, but it needs to be fixed.
FSD WAS useful on trips before the Christmas upgrade (NHTSA update) which turned it into an unsafe nag. I have used it since 2019, but hate it and no longer use it on the highway since that Christmas update. It is useless now. And I am a Tesla fan, own stock, the whole smear, but I am now an FSD hater. It forces you to torque the yoke, and you have to watch the screen instead of the road. The nag part is what has made it unsafe.
What will these 3 releases achieve? Summon, Banish, and Reverse?
Elon will not ne happy with FSD until it is Petfect as Elon is a Perfectionist, then everyone is going to want to licence it for their EV,'s.
You should check out China XNGP AutoPilot System and huawei. It is better than FSD.
I want to confirm the comment by Hans at 16:30 about long-distance driving with FSD. I am 74 and have driven twice from Marion IA to San Antonio TX in the past 2 years. The one way trip requires driving/charging 9-10 hours per day for 2 straight days. There is no way I could have done this w/o FSD, which reduces the stress of constantly needing to tend to the trajectory of the vehicle & allows the “driver” to relax, stretch & stay refreshed by shifting their sitting position, not stressing over lane changes, having the freedom of head motion to enjoy the scenery without having their eyes constantly focused on the road, safely drinking & eating, adjusting their clothing etc. This long-distance driving support alone is worth every penny of the 6K I spent!!
All fine and dandy, how does it move the stock if at all. FSD needs to be measurable revenue by the street.
More exciting than cybertruck deliveries. Mabye tesla wont be a dead stock for anouther year. Been holding since 2020. Hopefully fsd will improve at the rate elons predicted time and time again.

Just got FSD 12.3. this morning. Have had 2 almost perfect drives with no disengagements and only one navigation error that it recovered from without any intevention by me.

I’m surprised that regulators will allow summon and banish as no one behind the wheel. Why is nobody talking ablout this. Everyone seems to just accept that it will be allowed or are US regulators not aware that Teslas are doing this ??
