No impact methods. Some oil filter housings are made of plastics.
Brother, if you are afraid of getting your hands dirty, then follow my advice and stop driving.π«ππ
Me I use Tim Horton glass that's my method.my hand clean also.π
or just join the rest of the bitch methods "rupaul drag race"……
Lol you better hope that filter comes off after
Nice tips ππππ
Still it droped on your hand
I even do this on cartridge type filters to even though they are upright
If you do that on the new one BEFORE installing it, you'll save a lot of time
I can see that they didnβt lube the last gasket, no good
Iβve been doing that for 50 years
I don't think I've ever spilled oil from an oil filter and I have to reach up through my four-wheel drive to loosen it. Set it down on top of my axle. Get on top. Reach down to the engine bay to pull the oil filter out. Keeping it upright and it's never been an issue. If you have that much trouble with spilling oil, just take it to a jiffy lube. Boom done
Good idea!
Simple, NICE
Buy a BMW, they got this one thing absolutely right
I never change the filter….problem solved.
See my filter is horizontal so I don't get oil on me regardless
Tech tip of the day…if your worried about getting your hands dirty, maybe think of NOT being a mechanic!!
Sinto pelos comentarios que os idiotas ainda vao dominar o mundo, nao pela sabedoria mas pela
quantidade deles!!!
Did this when I did oil changes on semis
Sounds great, but oil filters are often located directly above steering components and more. Punching a hole would make for one nasty mess.
It's good idea but every oil filter not in the same position.
Great tip.
Loosening the filter first, as I've seen several people mention, is important as well.
What if your oil filter is horizontal not vertical?
Now the new one doesn't fit and you punched the old one
Cool music
Gump ….ura. gott. Daaaamd.gene yus!
Yes…
Hell just have some one else do it
What a waste of filter fluid π€¦ββοΈ
Tech Tip: Absolutely make sure the replacement filter is the correct one before punching hole in old filter.
I use a flat tip
Been doing my own changes for 30 years… why didn't I ever think of this?!!
I tried this on my Subaru.. It didn't work
I literally just did this today for the first time and it did not work. Maybe its just a 2016 focus thing but i put a hole in it, waited 20 minutes for it to stop dribbling, and then unscrewed it only for it to immediately leak all over the place as if i didnt put the hole there at all.
π€¦π»ββοΈ Next oil change I'm doing that!ππ»ππ»
Thanks for the tip. It never occurred to me to try this and i do get oil everywhere π unfortunately. This is gonna be great.
What about cartridge filters what do you do then
