The Radcliffe Le Dome is a $430 hyperwatch. How is this possible? Thanks to a little creative thinking and a dash in inspiration from one of the greats.

  1. very interesting, for the price, i wonder how well these are/were selling.
raise the price a little and put interesting dials on it, and it would be a home run.

  2. Tayeb is the best. He’s willing to try new things and go for it. Better still, everything he creates gets better before deliveries start. My Haxel chrono evolved in front of my eyes from concept to delivery. Top guy who is relentlessly focussed on quality.

  3. This is why companies are doing away with rose engines. For basic patterns like this radiating clou de Paris, you can get almost the same look with a CNC machine.

  4. When you exaggerate like you do it almost seems as if you're not aware of the enormous creativity and variety that is available around 500 or 1000 USD. I'm almost certain you're just pursuing dramatic effect… It does make sense to avoid buying watches that lack certain basic qualitative and material features at any price point. What then matters is taste, purpose, and refinement in execution within a respective price category and value for money vis-a-vis its specs. The fun of this watch is that the form factor is normally only available in haute horlogerie. However, the inconic examples of that always make substantive use of the space afforded by the high domed crystal for functionality. Here the time indication is simply changed into two rotating features. Probably it requires modifying a movement, but as a tien indication actually does not even require a high dome, nor does the open heart. So, for the novelty value I was briefly interested, but despite the boundary pushing nature of the form factor, I feel there isn't enough of substance here to keep me interested. Also, I sincerely hope this is a relatively poorly executed prototype, since the case, dial, and dial features seemed full of imperfections in your footage. There are many prototypes that are far more convincingly executed… and even at its price level I would expect the few features it has to be executed better.

  5. Pretty sure it's all good. "Le" is part of the name. You aren't referring to the only one, or even a specific example. Like with LaFerrari. So when you refer to yours you don't have to call it simply "my Dome". I think "my Le Dome" is fine. 😂

  6. This watch is…??? Honestly I don't know what to think but I like it, so much so that I just backed it on Kickstarter. Can't wait to see the final finishing. Just one thought though. It's odd the subdials rotate clockwise. Normally the hands move clockwise, thus the "dial" would be rotating counterclockwise. For instance if it was six, looking left would be seven, not five. Idk maybe it's just me. Either way I'm excited for future updates

  7. I just ordered mine to counter balance the Tudor BB54 (the most boring and beautiful diver watch on the market!) I also ordered. The point will be to make a rotation between my very "mainstream" pieces (tudor bb54, omega seamaster 300, Zenith El Primero 36000 vph, Christopher Ward C65 Royal Marines Commando…) and the funky-weirdos (Christopher Ward Bel Canto, Nivada Grenchen × Undone Dephmaster Pac-man and…Le Dôme!)

  8. I think they should print nubers on minute dial upside downn, reverse and the marker for minutes to be up. Therefore, when you look at the watch ,the hours and minutes would be next to each other. More natural.

  9. The finish on the balance cage is crude & poorly cut, i know it's cheap but maybe building down to a price is not the way to go.. Perhap's pay a little more attention to build quality & charge that little bit more..

  10. Cool find Andrew, I feel like aesthetically the watch would be more my speed if for another $200 they make the cage over the openheart more symmetrical and better finished. But I'd put that wish aside if they would run the numbers on the minutes counter inverted so that the hours and minutes are both read in the middle of the watch where they meet – the little pip at the bottom of the dial looks like it is falling off!!!

  11. Is this a prototype version beeing reviewed? Sure its a cool piece and for all of us who admire watches like MB&F but can never buy one new watches like this are more than welcome. But the finishing of some parts looks kinda bad. Inside of the lugs for example looks really rough. What I think im trying to say is that if you going for this type of design and feel the case finishing has to be as impressive as the dial to be an over all homerun in my book.

  12. It's fun although it is a bit rough around the edges…or should I say…curves 😉 It's fairly affordable but if they'd have paid a bit more attention to cleaning up it's appearance just a tad – the balance polishing, the rotor looking less jagged/machined and the marks on the hour dome – , it'd be a good deal.
I love the MB&F pieces, I love Jacob&Co and Konstantin Chaykin because they're just having fun but also capable of making quality watches.
