I think itd be cool if in a new game a villain appears that can like travell dimensions and it ends up breaking reality sending everyone to other dimensions, then with sonic now being in a new dimension he could find the super emeralds and finally reintroduce hyper sonic

I think the real reason that sega tries to sweep under the rug was that apparently the flashing lights and colors of hyper sonic caused seizures for many people.

We haven't seen him anymore because that's the way SEGA and Sonic Team chose to distance themselves from Yuji Naka. The "unsolvable epilepsia" problem they use as their excuse is non-existent at this point, because you could use the smooth transitions for colors and Fresnel effect for the hue, instead of coloring the whole body. But excuses will always be excuses.
