I doubt that is Appalachian…. more like something someone from the city bought to come "help the Appalachian people financially " by stripping them of resources and clean water.

I live in wv. A lot of our coal miners aren't around any more due to black lung. A friend of mine has watched people die in those mines. I love heavy equipment, but coal poisons the land and the people who mine it. No one should have to watch friends die to feed their family.
When the grid goes down they will be scrambling

I'm living on a sea of anthracite, some places it sticks out of the ground. The current administration shut the place down, caused area wide layoffs.
Sad theyd rather let them get destroyed than sell them cheap to domeone who could use them . Shows how money ruins mankind
They are well out of hrs, and if left to operate, they will fail at the coal face in a spectacular manner.
Instead they’ll be picked apart to keep other machines going in the fleet, and the core components sent away for overhaul, before they are fully destroyed

I once saw a abandoned caterpillar 785b once when I was visiting a old coal mine. There was also a 777 sitting there as long with a cat 740 I think
Despite being electric and having the latest computer technology, rope shovels will never be as efficient as hydraulic excavators.

I love seeing all the equipment! I wasn’t Pennellville one day! I saw bucket that look like it could fit four of my razors inside it! And it was like attached to a chain to where they’re supposed to be a machine? The chain links where is big as my wheels and thicker than my frame on my pick up truck it was insane! Guy come up to talk to me and he’s like you’re not supposed to ride in here! I told him oh this is about as far as I made it. I just drove around off to the left there and then I noticed back and I’ve been sitting here for like a half an hour just looking at this thing! He looked a bit confused!
Sad that these iconic machines will end up in a scrap yard
I work at an underground mine they government keeps telling us they are going shut all the mines down. But in all Reality they can’t since there is NO replacement for fossil fuels to use for so many different things they make from it. Where I live we don’t get enough sunlight all day long to run even sidewalk lites all night . Solar panels are a joke I can’t generate enough power for the grid to to power everybody. Coal,oil & gas powers the World
