How Effective is a $100 Mining Case? | Testing Alternatives for My Open Rig Setup

“Defi-Django”

I bought this Case for $100 on eBay. In this Video, I throw some cards in this case and test out whether it will be a good option for me to consider for replacing my open frames. This is a Initial thoughts type of video, Let me Know if you would like me to do a more in depth video. Testing out…

  1. Instead of traditional GPU risers use Ribbon Risers. This way you will get by using 1 power supply & these are rock Solid. Bits be Trippin used those in the early years especially on the Asrock Motherboards only. Yes i know they cost a bit more but if you van loose this way all of the GPU Riser & 6 Pin PCIE & USB cable issues…..at least in my opinion its well worth it…….especially bc the day only has 24 Hours & you need to sleep enough otherwise all falls apart ……even several cans of Red Bull only help so much

  2. It’s a difficult decision imo. Def would be saving a bunch of money on those cases but I think you’d have to try to fit them with quality parts (mobos, ram, psu, etc) to be sure that they wouldn’t all be breaking down in that heat. So many advantages to Octominer cases but they are expensive AF. Maybe you could find a deal out there on some bulk Octominers? Someone decommissioning their farm?

  3. In difference to the Octo miner cases you get to choose which Motherboard, CPU, Ram & Power Supply you want to use. I will order tomorrow my first 1/2 of them & by the way ine of the most stable Motherboard for Mining is the EVGA Z 170 K or even better the Z 170 classified or the Asus Prime Z 270. All of these were designed by Kingpin the chief Engineer & Designer of EVGA. Depending on the algorithm like Flux ‘useful work’you will have to upgrade to a CPU which has 4 cores/treats to support every PCIE lane. A fave of mine is the Z 390/490 Dark-KingPin

  4. I have 11 chase like that for about 2 years and those are great , whit segotep psu 1200w , still working great , the major issue is that u can put only 6 card, the second cheapest option is VTRETU, ask thehobiestminer about them, i saw them first on his chanel and those are perfect ,love them perfect for 8 gpus and cheap already bought 10
good job keep going, greating from romania eu

  5. the nice thing about 6 gpu rigs and regular ATX motherboards, is that they are a bit easier to run than 8 gpu rigs on those boards. If you try those 6 gpu cases, try them with the Z170s before dropping more money on dedicated mining boards.

  6. its confusing to me how can you give 3000$ for that particular setup and mine 4$ per day, care to explain more how you justify the cost and ROI i wanted to give a try to get one rig with few GPUs but the math just doesnt add up to me. even if the price doubles of the coins we still tal about 1-2 year to break even

  7. Great contents! Mining cases are life savers. I’m selling used 8 Gpus mining cases (8x Rtx 3080supported). They included 2500w PSU, Celeron CPU with cooling fans, SSD, 4 Intake chassis fans (3000rpm). 300-400 cases available. Will also trades with 3000 series Gpus. You can come take a look it’s located in Oklahoma.

  8. Not every case needs to have a motherboard. If a motherboard can support 12 GPUs, one case can be a “slave” of 6 cards. Or, if motherboard supports only 8 GPUs, a “slave case can be shared across two “master” cases. A master case contains a motherboard, a slave case does not.

  9. I think SOAT removes his GPU fans completely and just runs case fans (Octominers?) You should test that in next video! If results are good, you'll have brand new GPU fans to reinstall when it comes time to sell cards. Cool video and nice farm, man. I'm subscribing to see more!

  10. Spending $100 USD just a for a case is already pretty high initial investment, not sure if that would be a good idea for all home-miners. But as long as it works and you can get your money back lol

  11. Since we had the hottest Summer in California i am concerned about the Temperatures of my GPU rigs. I was in the process of building a semi servers case from AAA wave. The only problem with it is that you don’t have enough space between the Motherboard/ Power Supplies & the GPU’s which are sitting right on top of all. I even installed a top level 280 mm AIO to keep the CPU cool but with the lookout of triple digit/ at least high 90s as ambient temperature i am really concerned & i want to be able to have my GPU mining rigs running this year. If possible all year long. I might purchase one of these server cases to see how my primarily 3070 ti’s & 2080 TI & AMD RX 6750 Sapphire Nitro will fit into them. For fans I don’t mind to spend the extra money on Noctua 3000 RPM server style fans. They are almost indestructible & for about $30 you can’t find a quieter fan.
