You can have other skills on astegon. Dragon cannon 4 shot ore nodes and the cooldown are like 2secs. Also have a skill dont remember the name which shoots one big dark ball and one shots the nodes. Also heard of a laser skill who one shorts ore nodes. Or you just put him out of the party and pick him up to reset the cooldown. I use him at my base and let the base pals pick it up. Gives room to let the pals focus on other things at the base like stone Wood or ranch etc. That can also free up one base slot because you can use astegon at the base to mine and the pals can focuse on other stuff. If i would have a box and floopies in necklace. Would they pick up the mined stuff without adding weight to me?

If you dont factor in food consumption then yes digtoise might be the best but you still need to max out every digtoise you have at the base. its 116 digtoises per digtoise at base. if you want 4 of them that means 464 compared to astegon or blazamut which oyu can just plop into the base and get comparable dps on ores + less food
the strat is build a base before mining then teleport to ore base. destroy base and go to next minign spot. this is mostly for when you need a boost in ore production.
digtoise gets stuck less imo – which considering I mostly let them do stuff afk, matters more to me. Big pals just always glitch out somehow.
whenever i tried astegon as a base worker he made it his mission to constantly get stuck on the closest piece of wall, floor, or natural environment as soon as he possibly could. But at least he stays up all night so he can stay stuck all night.

the stutters come from the mods, I have the same issues with pal iv's.
There is a pal that will auto pick up items on the ground
Bring floppie to carry items and wumpo for weight capacity
Then do the drop pal skill reset bug
Getting an Astegon with lightning strike can be done via lightning fruit(rare) or through breeding(long, unless you change the settings)
If you play on custom settings and set it to where you don’t drop any of your stuff you can just mine everything you want with astegon and then just click respawn and go straight to your base but that just if that’s how you want to play the game .
I just throw a bunch of random rank 1 Anubis's in my mining base. There are so many that, for each day, they're able to break all the ore. I don't think min-maxing mining is necessary.

astegon might be the best mining pal… I'm in pain
build a wooden chest next ur ore spots. if you depot it all in the chest then hold it without dropping it in your inventory, you can ride it all the way to the travel spot then put it in ur inventory. Ive been doing this and its amazing. Also you can turn off deterioration on outside base mats so the chest never disappears.
Astegon vs Max star & passives digi. Astegon is a lot easier with no stars.
There are other attacks that you can use. The thunder strike is just good for groups. Plus there's the whole dropping it and picking it up reset you can do.
Honestly its always going to have a use. Not everyone builds effective bases. Mines ok and farms a metal and a skill tree but if I really need ore I go fly around on my slow stead breaking nodes as I go with Batom(?) To boost my carry weight. Once full drop third base tp home unload and return rince and repeat. Being able to carry 2000 pounds is REAL nice.
P.S. you can breed for the attack skill. If the parent has the attack it can be passed to to it's offspring
I counted only the first spin of the digtoise, I may have counted wrong because the numbers keep overlapping each other so I'm not sure but I counted 160 damage could be less because I added some more so might be around 140 and it takes 4 seconds, then I tested the astegon in my base mining one node and also for 4 seconds it hit around 135 damage, big note here, my astegon is rank 0 stars if I max it it will be much better than digtoise since 1 spin of digtoise is 4 seconds and 2 hits of astegon is also 4 seconds. In the end the astegon rank 0 almost out perform a digtoise 4 stars, I see no need to use a digtoise.
But me personaly I don't use both, I use Tombats so they work night and day with some katress to carry the ores night and day. The astegon can work at night too but since my ore base is also my production base the stop mining to craft things so I don't use them. These tests are aimed only to use them in a ore/coal/anything base, when I go outise to farm sulfer I just use the pickaxe, not even the Lily's spear bug I don't use, it is not efficient but I like to play like this =)
So I think the way the digtoise is rn is good compared before update but astegon is better. Nice video I loved it!
Edit: Work speed don't work on mining nodes like grazing they don't have a work bar progress to go faster breeding has a bar progress but there are 2 pals working, I never tested but increasing damage could benefit mining ores perhaps? We need to science =D
For now, you can drop Astegon from your team onto the ground and pick him back up. Resets cooldowns and that goes for any pal (even saddle ability cooldowns). I dont know if this will get reworked in the future. But this way, even nodes that are farther appart can be quickly mined with Astegon.
Astegon can do that? Damn I gotta get him. I kinda like to mine some paldium from the caves cos I don't have too good stone economy yet.. all the cement…
