  1. If a car drives 100,000 miles at 26 mpg, it will use 4000 gallons to drive that distance. Each gallon of gasoline takes 3 to 6 gallons of water to produce, through the chain from well to pump. So that's 12,000 to 24,000 gallons of water to produce enough gasoline to fuel a car in it's lifetime.
