“Red Monster SC”

In this video I provide my unfiltered first impressions on the newly announced RSI Arrastra, the multi-crew mining ship meant to bridge the gap between the Argo Mole and the future RSI Orion. I follow-up with my impressions of the ship, its features, and the future mining gameplay that it’s…

  1. I love this design. I see a lot of the features of the Oddy. While I don't classify the Oddy as a mining ship as it can't sell for profit. The similarities include: vehicle bay, refinery, both about 5 crew. As such my guess is towards the $600-700 mark. While this is above the Orion price point, It won't take much effort from CIG to bump up the Orion price (again). If I'm wrong and everyone gets a cheaper ship….. That would be awesome.

  2. So for my guess slightly smaller than the Polaris, but larger than the Galaxy or Perseus. Cargo Grid on the sides still allowing to use the vehicle area of 512 SCU same as Galaxy cargo module. Dedicated ore Intake in those expandable containers on the top, so unknown exactly, but to guess would estimate 128 SCU. Price well back to my original thought starting price between $450 and $550, now after ISC leaning more towards $525. Edit: Forgot Warbond guess price of $485.

  3. I would see myself designing space ships. Dream Job because we dont have spaceships yet that we can design in IRL. The moment we start steroid mining then I will go to the design department if I am still alive 😀

  4. I really like the idea and the look. I expect a 400-500$ ship between mole and orion. Sadly, we still have no information about raffining ships, so it wont be fly ready before 1+ year.

  5. Yep awesome being a very early adopter and getting prospector, only got get smacked by them again for cash upgraded ships. Honestly such a gronk move by the devs.

  6. That's mean 3xS3 size mining lasers?? Hangar will be on back, and it looks like 2 decks + I saw decks on top between cargo pods. But it's problem rn…. I promise myself to not buy ship I didn't tested and I must broke that 🙂

  7. For me, it's all about capacity. I want something that doesnt need to go back to a station to unload every 30 minutes. The vehicle hanger is "nice", but I am not convinced by it. I am very interested to see the laser sizes though. My Mole current has a pair of size 2 lasers and a single size 1 laser to maximise availability.

  8. Very exciting look CIG gave us at this ship! I usually love your videos, but for the love of god, why are you stopping every couple of seconds to GUESS what's attached to the ship and how it works? They tell you exactly what it all is if you just let it play. I look at your videos for your opinions as a mining enthusiast, not your guessing skills. It would have been much more valuable and interesting if you watched the video a few times and then shared your thoughts, instead of doing this "blind react" format which wastes a ton of time scrubbing back and forth to try to make sense of a pretty well explained overview.

  9. Those larger asteroids are in Pyro. They're HUGE. Also, notice in the image where you were talking about the colors, there's a human figure on the ground next to it for a scale reference. As for this ship, I love the design, but it's too big for me.

  10. This is a "shut up and take my money" moment already, but i want to know more about the refinery. How much can I process and what happens to it. My theory is it will be like the reclaimer where it spits out (hopefully big) boxes that someone then moves onto the cargo grid. But I'm hoping it moves a lot faster than the station refineries, for obvious reasons. It also looks like maybe 200scu+ storage and if I'm right, that should be ample storage to make it worth it. I just hope I'm right, cause we need a lot to make that refinery worth it if it refines slowly.

  11. ok i have a theory and hear me out… I think the middle top laser will be manned and the other two will be remote. Just think of being in that top laser and then going down all the way through the ship out the bottom!!! There are 2 mdfs on each side but only one seat on each side in the bridge pictures. And there is a guy walking around that top middle laser in one of the pictures…HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE?!?

  12. I'm likely going to upgrade my Mole to the Arrastra. I never fell in love with the "program" of the Mole (as Morphologis would say) and always found the Mole's "program" problematic for game-play. When one considers the multi-player role the Mole attempts to fill, its program can either enhance or impede that role. On a sliding scale, IMO, the Mole's program lands too far down the latter aspect to be considered a top-tier multi-player platform, so I'm really excited for the Arrastra which appears to have an outstanding program.

  13. Super curious how this affects my fellow Orion owners. If you’re reading this how do you feel about it? Personally I struggle to get more than 4 people online at the same time so this may be more our speed. Sadly I don’t need or want to spend the money for two large mining vessels. 😛

  14. The fact that the mining lasers are remote turrets, they're all in the same location on the bridge, and that the mining turrets can go from the front to the back and looks like can move around abit.

At this point, whats the point of getting the MOLE? Unless these are like size 3 mining lasers and can only open big rocks, the MOLE seems kind of inferior in everyway, the only selling point is that its cheaper. You can SOLO this behemoth of a ship far easier than the smaller MOLE. Which was what I liked to do alot, being able to solo mine in the MOLE is a favorite of mine and it just seems like I can do that alot better with the Arrastra.

The only way I see this not dwarfing the MOLE is if those mining turrets can only use size 3 mining heads, so it ends up being restricted to only breaking big rocks. To at least give the MOLE some role in this process where these ships are looked at as upgrades. Instead of seeing the Arrastra as just a better version of the MOLE.

  15. I don’t get why the center laxer in pilot control. Sure it is not a solo ship, but having a dedicated pilot is not as fun as having all mine.

  16. I really like the arrowhead design language for RSI. This ship is good, but I personally would have rather cig make the Orion more design compatible with the new scheme instead of making this ship fill the design transition gap.

  17. I have to wonder if the double headed mining lasers are perhaps combination mining lasers and a tractor beam? Break a rock then move the chunks apart/closer for secondary breaks

  18. That mining ship is looking good, hopefully with it being a heavy rsi build next year they can hammer this and the other rsi ships out easier and more efficiently!
