Nicehash is good too if you’re mining on…

  1. With under volt I get an average of 19584 on my 7950x3d'S, on stock settings I get 24853 khs, ram makes a huge difference on the speeds , I also noticed different mobo can play a role in hashrates ASRock B650M PRO RS AM5 AMD B650 SATA 6Gb/s Micro ATX Motherboard is a great board I have 4 CPUs on this board and they are using G.SKILL Flare X5 Series AMD EXPO 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 Desktop Memory Model F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5….they are all on air coolers with a single fan and sitting at 66 degrees

  2. I'm new to the cpu side of mining too. Got plenty of gpu experience under the belt but this is a new animal and jumped into the deep in with the same 7950x3d as you. I will eat up whatever you put out. Please learn and share it all lol

  3. from what I understand (I have 7 AM5 rigs) these CPU’s are designed to hit high 80+’C & run highest clocks possible based on cpu temps. My 7900, 7900x, & 7950x all run super cool with air cooler cause I’ve lowered voltage to around .9

  4. arr… the VRM heatsink isn't getting any air flow, most likely will have issues down the track. better foff spinning the CPU heatsink around and pushing air through it so it goes over the VRM heatsink on the way out

  5. i always set cpu voltage and speed. usually in ryzen master but sometimes in bios. you cant mine on a cpu or a gpu unless you set the volts and speed. well, you can mine without setting those things but its like shouting "HERE! TAKE MY MONEY!! I DONT WANT IT! ITS YOURS!"

  6. The only way you'll see a significant drop in temp on that CPU is by de-lidding it. You can then cool the dies directly or replace the heatspreader with Thermal Grizzly's upgraded heatspreader.

  7. I remember like I think 2 years from now I jumped on the CPU mining rig and bought all new parts and no case or nothing basically just the bare minimum to have a running computer for a Ryzen 9 3900X. That was a dedicated CPU mining rig until a few months ago I got gifted a computer case and i bought some parts like a bigger kit of RAM and a higher watt PSU. Then I turned it into a gaming/main PC and I would still mine on it. But I think I want to upgrade the cooler in the future because it is at 95*C.

  8. i just set my 7800x3d to 99 percent in advanced power plan settings in windows. It cuts temps by 10-20 degrees for a small performance hit. When i game i switch to 100%max when I mine I have cpu at 99% max

4.7 at 0.94-0.98v most are 0.975 or so only have one that is stable under 0.97
Also turn on xmp/expo whatever your motherboard calls it then turn on high bandwidth mode

From Rabid himself today when someone was asking about clocks for a 7900x. Also these instructions apply for a 3900x too except the high bandwidth mode is only for the 7000 series apparently. Ill bet it will work for you too. Also Rabid recommends against AIO coolers in his videos because he says they get overloaded and don’t do well on a constant heat load. Imo you are focusing too much on the temps and I don’t blame you because I am that way too, but after you under volt it a bit and set the clock speeds correctly (for the 3900x it is 3.7ghz with above instructions) it isn’t a problem. My 3900x was running at similar temps prior to applying these settings and now it runs at around 50c. I highly recommend joining Rabid’s discord because they are super knowledgeable.

  10. In all seriousness though, I don’t consider this buying mining equipment. A fast computer has plenty of uses. If mining doesn’t work out, you can still run Quickbooks and Microsoft Office on it. Much easier to repurpose than an ASIC.
