  1. Wherever it is, once money is involved every empty wasteland suddenly becomes native American 'sacred ground'.
    Money must have the magical ability to turn ground in the middle of nowhere no one cared about a couple of years ago into the most holy place on Earth.

  2. The extension of the mine up into the Oregon side of the Caldera will likely wipe out the largest wintering areas for sage grouse in the entire region. I have been monitoring this population for several decades as well certain very rare plant species that occur In the unique soils that are present. I guess when push comes to shove the wildlife is going to get shoved under the bus. It's funny this area was marked as an area of special habitat concern that the notorious Vale BLM district quickly and very quietly dropped as soon as the Chinese companies found the lithium.

  3. don't hold your breath. the granolas have been torpedoing any and all new mining projects in the western states. the only way that industry will ever be able to access those deposits is if WWIII breaks out in earnest. until then it's not gonna get to first base

  4. Lithium is irrelevant – Lithium batteries are a dying battery chemistry because of the propensity for thermal runaway. So, your lithium boom will probably be a very short one – not a new concept for mining!

  5. Yeah, they're trying to sell us out to the Chinese. America's not gonna make nothing. China's gonna make it if anybody should make it. The Indian should be paid for their land and I'm not even an Indian. The Indians have been treated their whole lives since we come here. That one that land belongs to the indians
