  1. You say at @29:30 that you will use the first partition for boot partition, and the second for EFI. But then at around @33:00 you run `mkfs.fat -F32 /dev/nvme0n1p1` and `mkfs.ext4 /dev/nvme0n1p2`. Is this a mistake? I though EFI was supposed to be on a FAT32 partition?

  2. Hi Jay, I found your Learn Linux TV a few months ago and wish I had found it sooner because you have the best collection of Linux intructional videos on YouTube.

I fell in love with computers from the day I first used an IMB compatible computer back in the eighties using MSDOS and have used Windows, macOS from the box over the years and then started tinkering around with Linux installs a few years ago using vaious tutorials found on YouTube, most of which show you how to use the command line but very rarely tell you much in depth about the process.

You, on the other hand, have put together the most comprhensive collection of tutorials on a lot of topics and I have leaned a lot from each and every one of those watched so far.

For me it's a hobby and yesterday I installed AchLinux on a spare laptop that originally came with a windows operating system that had been changed to Mint, Ubunto and finally Arch as of yesterday using the manual setup that you went through perfectly.

I went through the process 3 times, the first worked perfectly but I decided to go through it again and it failed on me because I used a – instaed of a / in one step, so I had to go through it a third time to get it up and running again.

Thank you so much for allowing an old guy like me to have a lot of fun

  3. when i run lsblk command, i don't see my drive except usb

NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT

    loop0 7:0 0 489.5M 1 loop /run/archiso/sfs/airootfs

    sda 8:0 1 3.8G 0 disk

    └─sda1 8:1 1 3.8G 0 part /run/archiso/bootmnt
my drive has windows installed and i plan to remove this OS. i have 512gb of disk space but i don't see them.

  4. Would have been nice if you include a separate instruction for those who wants to install it in a partition (for dual boot), not the entire drive itself as shown in your video.

  5. I can't connect to the wifi,
I have wlan0, but with station wlan0 get-networks it says no station on device
with station list command it says 'no devices in station mode available'
    Tho I can't install arch, please can you help me;-;

  6. That is so helpful, thank you! Which second hand notebook, for office purposes, not multimedia or gaming, can be recommended for arch, given a larger than average need for security?

  7. Hello,
I have Hp Spectre X360. I've been using Fedora but unfortunately, The Bluetooth adapter is always grayed although it works on windows 11 on the same machine.
    * I've tried different Linux distros but the same issue persists on.
    If I isssue the command:
    sudo systemctl status bluetooth
I get it active but when I issue the command:
    bluetoothctl power on
I get the message: "no default controller avaliable".
    * So I'm intending to try Arch Linux hoping that Bluetooth will work on it.

    * Can I install Arch Linux in a dual boot with windows? Why should Arch Linux wipe the whole drive before installation rather than spanning the free available space?

Thank you so much. You are really amazing. keep up the good work.❤

  8. Archinstall is heresy. The heart of Archlinux lies in the manual installation process, offering users a chance to gain a solid understanding of the operating system's inner workings.
