In this video I put Proxmox 8.1.3 on my good Lenovo x3650 M5 and do a bit of updating, plus get rid of the annoying subscription notice :

Get you own Proxmox right here :

  1. Your first task should be to get another server in the Proxmox cluster. Second task should be to move the XClarity VM to the cluster. Then you can migrate the VM between servers to do your firmware updates!
(Your fourth task will be complaining about how difficult it is to shut down a cluster when the power goes out. Those pesky VMs migrate whenever a node goes down.)

  2. I guess Broadcom are going to loose some customers. I am using proxmox on my desktop/server PC with one monitor for proxmox and two other for vm's. I did install Mate for desktop for my proxmox.

  3. Lenovo X3950 X6's with Proxmox Using psSense and HAProxy. Good Luck Proxmox is a champ and so is Lenovo machines when you get it configured properly. How do you Like the 10 minute Post … Wait Time?

  4. Hey Morten, long time viewer here. Been using Proxmox both for personal usage and later professional since I started watching your IBM M2/M3 videos and bought one M3 for myself. If you need any tips feel free to reach out!

    Kind regards from Portugal 😁

  5. I consider software not finished, until it has cli interface. (-: Everything Proxmox is doing is just pretty pictures on top of virsh, qemu, iptables, maybe ufw and recently ceph. Sometimes those virsh commands are 2 meters long.

  6. When you need to go into the UI then you spend to much time on things only being fancy 😛 Nah UI are good but i like to know the CLI. There are always stuff you cant do in the UI that need to be done in CLI. Not necesairly because of its not done but that its not worth implementing for the big mass.
Proxmos is nice. Started to switch to that on my new company for what we run there. Old VMware user here to from the old days.

  7. 7:50 Morten, I read Proxmox manuals on Proxmox 5 era, and they recommend to install Proxmox onto hardware raid1 boot drive, because the boot drive can be single point of failure😁 and when it fails, all the virtual machines go to limbo!

  8. Hello Morton, I installed proxmox 8.1 on a minipc only 6 watts, a lot better than your electricty guzzlers. Did you install zfs on ssd or spinning rust ? On ssd you can see your drives go bad and possibly fail really fasts as it's writing to the disks just constantly. Also mightconsider to disable the cluster services…. Just too much io if you are not running a cluster! Cheers and looking forward to happy play house blogging next year….

  9. I have been using Proxmox for many years in a cluster of 3-4 machines. It is a love hate relationship with Proxmox for me but it is the only thing I know and I like that it is Debian based which I use for all VMs and services.
