  1. I like your forums but was never really endeared to the interface of discourse. Kind of a confusing layout. Xenforo or phpBB have a layout that makes more sense IMO.

  2. Forums….forever and always. Discord is worthless outside of real time. But I just sound like an angry old man yelling at clouds to most. Give it a decade or two and information for many things will be lost forever because younger generations could not handle having to wait for answers.

  3. I don't like Discord either. However, it is possible to implement a synchronization between website and Discord discussion. That way, Discord discussion is searchable and indexable on your website/platform. The same applies for discussions from Twitter, Mastodon, etc. Some products I use have their websites with this feature, so I never bother using their Discord.

  4. Discord is the downfall of hobby documentation. I had to talk down a coworker from putting public documentation on discord a few years ago. It was a bit terrifying.

  5. Discord is for people that can't handle any sort of delay. In a forum you have to wait (oh no, not that) for a reply. Discord gets you attention now because you can't wait and who cares about the answer helping anyone else in the future. Also it means people might be grumpy if you ask the same damn question that has already been asked 1,000X before, rtfm and search for the answer.
