  1. I upgraded to 10gbe when I bought a kit on eBay that included two (2) 10gbe NICs and a SFP+ cable. This connects my primary computer to my unRAID server. I made the decision to upgrade after years of using a gigabit connection to my Synology NAS. Both of my current systems have a 2.5gbe connection as well, but they are connected to a gigabit Internet connection. I occasionally toy with the idea of upgrading to a 40gbe connection, but will probably hold off until my next server.

  2. Interesting build! I too am starting my homelab NAS & docker server using an optiplex 9020. I'm hopeful that I can create a great presentation/content video like yours in the near future featuring homelab builds using available parts in the South East Asia region. As for home networking, I am tempted to go with 10Gbe on first try, but I'll try my luck with 2.5Gbe first. My NAS currently functions as a media storage, so no need for high speed file transfers at the moment.
