  1. Nope. Don't like it. Did a fresh install of it and, although it looks nice, ubuntu is so heavily modified that finding what you're looking for is nearly impossible. Plus what they DON"T tell you is that the wine compatibility layer they use to install .exe and .msi files only works with 32-bit software, not 64 bit. The windows app support that Zorin OS uses is much more refined and fluid, with support for both 32 and 64 bit software. Oh, and did I mention, that in order to use all of the functionality of Wubuntu, you literally have to purchase a license for $45. If you don't, the free version will remain in "Trial Mode", just like Microsoft Windows. Not my cup of tea.

  2. I think Wubuntu is a great idea. It would be fun to watch Megadaft respond to it…if nothing else it would help the billions of their heretofore loyal microserfs “jailbreak” out of the hardware restrictions of Windoze 11 & if not then of having to run Windoze 10 w/o security updates after just a few months beginning now.

  3. I seriously doubt Microsoft cares about anything in this distro except for trademark infringement. It certainly doesn't work like Windows or provide any of the functionality offered by Windows.

  4. What the hell are you using a metered internet in the US!!!???!!! Even I living in the country with my nearest neighbor a 1/4 mile away, and using fiber!!! There is Starlink and lots of wireless options out there. Just saying!!!!

  6. they do include Microsoft Technologies legally, like Edge Browser and Powershell, also the Linux Kernel inkludes Microsoft commited code eg. drivers for HyperV, so the claim is correct, that does not mean the use of the logo is ok, ianal

You may note that isn't the kernel it comes with, but like every Mint, it's quite easy to update to the latest available kernel if you want to. I will say about this one, there seemed to be a clock-speed issue with many of the recent ones, (maybe a year, year & a half) where they didn't want to clock down to 800Mhz or something in idle mode. That's been fixed. I'm really happy about that. This one clocks up when it needs to but otherwise just idles. That's been missing for a while.
There's one 'bug' with the Mate desktop, with the clock / weather reporting gadget. That's been fixed in Mate 1.26.2 (because that's what's in several of my VirtualBox guests, and it works there) but the version in my host is still broken. [shrug] I'd rather it worked but I'm not losing a whole lot of sleep over it.

  8. I have LM 21.3 the edge iso (on my newer HP laptop) and kernel 6.5 is supposed to be EOL right but it recently had a small revision 6.5.14 to 6.5.15, curious why? Doesnt EOL mean that its no longer supported/updated

  9. I was trying to run Mate on my My old Acer Aspire 7520 and 5520 and It wouldn't work gnome and xfce work fine but as soon as I logged in Mate would just got all screen glitchy. These laptops are on a nforce 610m chipset paired with a Nvidia 7000m from 2007

  10. EDIT Wubuntu IS LinuxFX/WindowsFX. They keep changing the name, and since they're based in Brazil, they can just skirt around by doing that indefinitely. EDIT
Wubuntu looks like it might be from the same people who made LinuxFX. Both are doing the same thing, based on Ubuntu, operating out of Brazil.

  11. Wubuntu has been around a long while. It was called LinuxFX previously and before that it was WindowsFX. You can way back to it's beginnings back in 2007. So, if M$ wanted to do anything, they would've already.

  12. Country code 55 is Brazil, FYI… for Wubuntu. Man, I was thinking it would be China with the full-blown exact copy of Win11 lol. …EDIT: Oohhhh, it's the Linuxfx distro guys. Well, Microsoft left them alone before but now they're using Windows in their name so yeah, lawsuit incoming!
