If you are interested in creating more UnRaid content – here's a few points that I do not understand very well that may help others as well: – If one would like to use all SSD – could you skip the caching drives and put that $$ towards more or larger SSDs in the array? – What is this "trim" thing with SSD? Is this something to be concerned about? – If I want to install Windows – does it go in the array or do I need a separate drive?
Please share more about your containers. Would be great
Nice build, more unraid videos please, iv just started playing with the docker Windows build, rather than vm. Cheers
I just built a very similar system with an MSI Z790 motherboard and i7-14700K. I had some stability issues where it would become non-responsive with a black screen after running a couple days. I just thought I'd let you know that a BIOS update fixed that problem for me in case you run into any issues. I noticed that your BIOS is dated for October 2023, which is what mine had when I bought it but there are some 2024 updates on MSI's website.
those samsung nvme drives run hot, you're good. I'd say throw a nvme heatsink on it and then you can ditch the fan if you want. It'll throttle itself. Love seeing what you're up to as always.
I had the same issue on my 970 on my unraid server, and there's a firmware fix for the heat issue.
My cache drives are a a ZFS mirror (2 SSD's) pop up to 56 C quite often. I wondered the same thing on the tempatures and would like to know what's hot and whats not. Love the channel!
What about idle/usage power consumption?
Thanks Travis. I would like to see your docker container setups.
Agree. You need to do one on the containers. Might be good to break it up into several videos based on types and functions?
Also whats the average or idle power consumption on this thing?
Would love to see more of your container setup!
I purchased a Pro license of UnRaid so I would be grandfathered in. I hate subscriptions and most are deal-breakers for me. Can you tell us the wattage draw of your new server – drives spun up v/s drives spun down?
Nice build. I would like to see more Unraid videos. Including the zfs and vm stuff.
Would like to see a follow video on the apps you have installed and what it does.
Damn Trav – up to almost 50k subscribers! My unraid server is still going strong, coming up on 7 years and not a single R/W error!
Another great video as usual. I'm always open to new containers for things I didn't know I needed… ;).
