my opinion is to avoid and just get a big case like fractal define xl and avoid molex and spinning rust in general too – the way to go is with arrays of nvme – an array or two of spinning rust is basically still needed for cold storage like iso and vm and backups but what i would like to see you do is get 3 dual port 56 3rd gen connect-x cards and some transceivers and build dual nas – your ws connects to each nas and you can sync each nas to other through direct 40g – no switch needed for this setup – i thin cat7 will do 40g, you may need cat8 or just use dac connectors – it is a good setup for creators/homelabbers and smb/sme. do people really need dual nas? i would make a case for it and say yes, especially small biz
