Here's A Perfect sultion to this issue Have a Synology NAS with that data on it then enable Snapshots on that data then sync that data with Google enable snapshots their as well but also have that data on your local machines as well that backup to the nas then the Nas backup to Google so if anything goes wrong you can always use your local machines hard copy to create a new copy or restore from the NAS
Joe Cristina i want your opinion of my Backup setup at Synology Nas It backups to Dropbox Synology Nas also Backsup to a Local Qnap Nas as well Plus my Laptop Documents Backup to the cloud and full image to that Synology as well
You can do your own private cloud with synology. I was also able to do a direct vpn tunnel between two synology in different states in the past. But my synology rs800 series has been going 10 years strong. Two hd swaps thats it. Runs stripe and mirror raid 1+0. Much faster. If only I had a good back haul with my crappy netfear orbi. I had to add this. Synology also has apps for your phones and your computers to synch with the cloud.
I used Drive for several years. Paid for. It is used to store locally & back up to the cloud, so you always had your data & also it was not tied to the internet speed. I went to Sync after they changed the way it worked.
Who is stupid enough to give their time for free to a multi-billion-dollar company?
Great video. I have TWO (2) 30Tb NAS multi-drive in a raid 5 config and a backup raid 5 in my main computer box. AND an old Intel NAS for the really important files. All these are on several UPS with 20-30 min run time. basically 5 redundant backups. yes overkill but I don't lose data. Your advice is so NOW, Thanks
Thanks!
Several years ago, you cautioned about saving to the cloud, and I have avoided the Cloud ever since. I'm still working on getting to the point of having my own server.
Just like you said. “What?!“ Google volunteer support🤔 That does not sound good. Are they linked to Chinese communist? Lol 😂 I store all my important data in traditional way, which is in my external drive just like you. I don’t trust cloud EVER!!
Stop saying "Anyways". It's ANYWAY.
"Volunteers support agents" bruh that's crazy lmao… Google wtf?
Yesterday I was using "Google" Notes and when I went to go look at my grocery list I got a notification that google stole my grocery list and moved it to Google docs. It also said it was going to do this to other files based on the title of each Note file. Looking for another Note/list app now.
Google is by far the worst, gmail is a complete failure, I lost so many important emails and attachments before I realised that they delete the older emails!
I don't believe in Google anymore, when was the last time anyone was satisfied with a Google search results.
I'm going "old school" with data protection and backup, I recently bought an external USB drive… My first backup was using a Fujitsu Cypher Drive… look it up 😂
Don't trust any Could storage, every single cloud platform I've used has flailed me in one way or another!
Not sure i use only the web interface I was able to verify alot of my stuff is here just scanning past may age. Not sure how this impacts someone.
If you use cloud storage any and all data will be sold to whoever they want to sell it to.
Anything you save can be used against you in court.
Alphabet is part of the U.S. military industrial complex. They operate cloud computing for the Pentagon.
As the fellow said. "There is no cloud, its juts another guys computer." A common trend among big tech now that negative interest rates and FED QE the relied on is not quite there anymore. Evernote pretty much extorted free users by limiting their notes to unusable levels in order to pay up. Google on YouTube declared a war they will loes- Anti Ad blockers. Everyone is rising prices for subscription with no value added etc. Era of cheap credit is not as cheap anymore and the squeeze is coming so big tech does what you would expect them to do. Cut the fat, by laying off workers and dumping cost to subscribers and users. Steal as much data as you can while you can and sell it or use it to compete with some new AI monstrosity with other big tech.
I lost a lot of data because of google. It is most unreliable company.
Google support is nearly non existent. At our new house most packages were being delivered to a house down a steep hill. There was no road directly from here to there, and I traced the errors to google maps. I submitted corrections to Google Maps three times over the next eight months and they did not fix it. Out of frustration I posted on an online my complaint. A few weeks later, by chance, a google employee saw my post and contacted me. He kindly worked with me to get the map error corrected. If it wasn’t for him the mis-deliveries would probably still be happening. Cheers to this kind guy, boo to Google.
I pay for extra Google Drive storage and have not noticed anything missing. Admittedly, I don't keep the most important documents in the cloud. It's just a convenient way to access certain files. I'm the type that has multiple backups of critical files. However, I'm confident that if I was ever the subject of a criminal investigation Google would be able to deliver the prosecution a dossier of everything I've done as an adult and it would most likely include any of my files on Google Drive that were previously considered lost.
I never use any cloud storage. People seem to forget how much has been lost over the years. I back up on three hard drives and store separately. You are your best security bar none.
NEVER trust your important data to an outside source!! CRAZY.
Elon need s to speak three words to Google and Alphabit
Just asking, off topic. Does the newer starlink dishes have heat? See there is no motor but that heat is great where I live in north central Idaho. Snow has never covered my dish. Thanks marvin
Local backups are a MUST! Google always does this, its crazy…….i remember google desktop saved all kind of private info and they finally cancled that software when i worked foe attorneys and did due dilligence i could literally install google desktop and retrieve all kinds of personal secure information, they continued for years with that software, but then delete peoples google drive end user data…thats been happening for years…..
