Going through a similar situation myself. Built myself a NAS in a pretty decent 1u server but I've moved and having it in a 1u is no longer convenient. Also want to add plex and it's an older xeon that doesn't handle transcoding well as well as have a newer version of ipkvm software. I'd usually go best bang for buck route but for once I splurged and got myself an Epyc CPU/motherboard/RAM combo to build the upgrade with.
