  1. You don't think it's strange that the actual possessed child now works for NAZA? Maybe demons are "Out" there. They can't come in here without a suit. What to do? I know… I'll hijack a human. So feasible.

  2. Can anyone explain the VERY last scene of the movie when the lieutenant makes a referance to the movie Wuthering Heights, with Lucille Ball? He gets the actors wrong, and the Father says he already saw the movie. Did he do this on purpose?

  3. I watched it when i was very little in the 80s… And it wasn't scary at all. The story was good but definitely not scary…. i have yet to ever see a scary horror movie, .. And ive seen billions of horror movies

  4. Watching this movie at 6 years old with my parents and sister has forever impacted me as being the scariest movie and still creeps me out now in my mid 40s. Even watching the behind the scenes when I become an adult and noticing the suspension wires when she is floating in the air. Still for me it’s a core memory at 6 that has forever eff me up.

  5. I don't understand how this movie is the greatest horror movie of all time. I just watched it for the first time, and it's honestly the least horrifying piece of media I've ever watched. There was no unsettling aura or atmosphere to keep me on edge. The lack of a background score didn't help either. In comparison to newer horror movies, this one is honestly very slow-paced and tame.

  6. The scene you said the girl hurt her back in was wrong. She hurt her back being flung up and down. The lacing of the brace came loose so the metal part was going up while she was being flung down.

  7. I was born in '73 when this masterpiece was released. I watched it when I was older and till now it still remains my favorite horror flick. The beginning scene is iconic signifying that evilness knows no religion.

  8. I am 39 and just watched The Exorcist for the first time it was the original theatrical release with the pop-up ZUZU faces and it was great. This was a great recap.

  9. I saw this movie on TV at a very young age 5 years old maybe? I will never forget I asked for something to eat when it was over because I didn't want to go to bed. It caused me years of trauma. Even began wetting the bed. I was terrified beyond belief. I had chronic nightmares for 8 years until I watched it over again at the age of 13. I kept telling myself it was just a movie throughout the whole film. It worked. I would still have moments when I was alone in the dark but for the most part I got over the trauma it caused me initially. Scariest thing a 5 year old's eyes could ever behold…

  10. The scene you mentioned was not the one that caused back problems for Linda. Not true. It’s when she is tossed on the bed, her eyes turn white and she screams it burns. I saw her interview and Friedkin thought she was acting.

  11. Wait! Did you just say the boy the story is based on went on to work for NASA?
Do the the Bible touting, space denying, flat Earth conspiracy nut jobs know about this? They’d bloody love that!

  12. This has to be one of the most ridiculous over hyped movies ever made. It was not scary! I laughed thru most of it!

As to the sheer stupidity of what was shown. If I had brought any knitting needles with me, I could have made myself an Afghan.

    That's how bored I was.

As far as I was concerned? This movie was so lame, it needed "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark" ripping it to shreds to make it entertaining.

I felt sorry for young Linda Blair to be asked to do this sort of thing, at so young an age.

Although I am quite sure that her own body parts were sufficiently protected, jamming a crucifix into her vagina, had to have affected her mentally, as to the symbolism taking place to her character.

My step mother honestly thought that I could suffer demonic possession from watching this ridiculous movie.

    It's a F-ING movie! Hello!
And a bad one at that!

I'm sorry …but NO ONE'S HEAD can twirl around of it's own volition separate from the body it is attached to

You sever the brain stem! Your DEAD!!!!

Even the devil must give way to reality!
    If that had been attempted?

Her vertebrae would have ripped out of her back, snapping her neck causing instant paralysis and death!

Reality check! Completely Laughable! And physically impossible!

    Snore!!!!! Zzzzzzzzzzzzz!
