Avoid running into as many errors as I did when performing a bare metal server installation of EVE-NG 5.0 on Ubuntu 20.04. The steps in this video can also be used to perform a legacy installation of EVE-NG 4.0 on Ubuntu 18.04.

EVE-NG is one heck of software…

  1. I setup EVE-NG exactly like this unfortunately my server crashed right in the middle of studying for my CCNP Encor. Now I'm back at square one. Luckily I only had about 10 labs completed so I can re-do them. So, here I am….again…..building on a brand new PC I just built off of PC Part Picker. Excellent tutorial, makes my life a lot easier. Cheers.

  2. Cool video. Curious, as I want to buy a system to run large eve labs. What are the resources required to run a large eve lab as far as cpu, ram, disk etc? I know there are lots of variables, but what would you recommend to avoid any resource issues?

  3. This might be a dumb question, but can't you just take the eve-ng iso file and make that a bootable usb and install it to a device that way? I got an older laptop and it had issues doing this. The ubuntu installed and ran fine, but the eve install was basically a brick. I was wondering if/why I could/couldn't just install it via usb-iso.

  4. Well crap… I just got my EVE-Pro instance set up on ESXi… Now I'm buying another server, moving all my other servers off of it and throwing eve onto the 96 core server I have… Wish I had started off like that. The CPU cap that ESXi Imposes though is annoying.
